Quantum Computer-Aided Design: Digital Quantum Simulation of Quantum Processors

With the increasing size of quantum processors, submodules that constitute processor hardware will become too large to accurately simulate on a classical computer. Therefore, one would soon have fabricate and test each new design primitive parameter choice in time-consuming coordination between design, fabrication, experimental validation. Here we show how can performance next-generation hardware---by using existing computers. Focusing superconducting transmon processors as prominent platform, compute static dynamic properties individual coupled transmons. We energy spectra transmons be obtained by variational hybrid quantum-classical algorithms are well suited for near-term noisy In addition, single- two-qubit gate simulations demonstrated via Suzuki-Trotter decomposition. Our methods pave promising way towards designing candidate when demands calculating submodule exceed capabilities computing resources.
